6 things we already know about the next Grand Theft Auto

The next Grand Theft Auto, GTA 6, was once again in the spotlight this week. Not because of a trailer or the first image, but once again because of a rumor. The ideal proof that the hype around this new game is incredibly high.

Precisely for that reason Mark packed his things, got on his imaginary bike and enthusiastically pedaled through the Internet. Simply to tell you what important things we already think we know about this brand new game.

6 things we already know about GTA 6

If there’s one game that we’ve been able to ramble on endlessly about for a few years now, it’s GTA 6. Rightfully so, because as great as the enjoyment in Grand Theft Auto V has been (and sometimes still is) over the past nine years, I can’t wait for the sequel. Something that many people, given the incredible craving for more information, will no doubt agree with me on.

Then again, Rockstar Games is a fortress. It’s hard to get any information out of the developer, which is why most rumors are incredibly far-fetched in many cases. Fortunately, there are a few that can already give us a small idea of what the game could possibly offer us.

Just take this article with a grain of salt, as there is no official confirmation yet.

#1 Finally: the game is made

We start the list not with a rumor, but a rock-solid fact. GTA 6 is officially on its way. Sounds like something which is very logical, but it is confirmation which we have been waiting for years. Early this year, in February, Rockstar Games sent the happy news into the world. The studio is officially developing the game that fans have been screaming for for years. Finally!

Twitter won’t load because you didn’t give permission.

Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.

With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered. We’re pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.

#2 GTA 6 returns to Vice City

We thought so at first, then we didn’t, and now it seems to be true again. GTA 6 will most likely be set in Vice City: an alternative version of Miami. We know the location from GTA: Vice City, but never came back in a new game. The new game will change all that.

It’s just not quite as you think. Where it was previously thought that GTA 6 would be fully set there, the city will only be a part. So the story will probably take place in multiple places, which will also allow you to explore Vice City all over again.

#3 A female character

If anything is clear, it’s that GTA 6 is going to do things very differently from its predecessors. Where previously you as a player could only make the world unsafe with men, one of the main characters is now also a woman. Something that was never possible in the franchise before.

Incidentally, the also immediately brings with it an expectation. As was the case with the 2013 game, there is a good chance that GTA 6 will once again let you, the player, switch between different characters. For more info: check out the article above.

#4 GTA 6 will get online mode

The question I often encounter online is “will GTA 6 have an online mode?”. Of course, I don’t have the answer to that question myself, but we can all 99% assume that it will. The success behind GTA: Online is the whole reason that a game from 2013 is still so incredibly played in 2022. It’s a gold mine for Rockstar.

The fact that other titles like Red Dead Redemption, for example, are also provided with a similar feature says it all. With GTA 6 we can simply make the digital world, with each other, unsafe again.

#5 From 2024 onwards we can go wild

There has been an incredible amount of talk over the years about the release date of GTA 6. The fact that you are reading this article is also the confirmation that officially there is no answer yet. Although we can secretly assume that the new game will not be released for another two years.

Grand Theft Auto 6

For example, between April 2023 and March 2024, Rockstar expects sales of $89 million, financial growth of 14%, and a complete focus on next-gen consoles. The latter are still incredibly difficult to get at the moment, so not every gamer is yet provided for. The likelihood that the developer will wait until the vast majority have one of the consoles is quite high. So where 2023 still feels a bit early, I personally think a year or two of waiting is closer to reality.

#6 Graphically more impressive than ever

Grand Theft Auto V was already a graphical masterpiece for its time, and the sequel game will no doubt build on that. That’s not a guess, but already pretty much a reality. During the Game Developers Conference 2021, Rockstars Tobias Kleanhous spoke about the use of AI technology. This will allow the studio to make major improvements and achieve higher quality.

If you can already enjoy games on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S right now, brace yourself!
