PlayStation 5 has a special trick that gets you further

Forget the Nintendo Switch 2: PlayStation 6 information leaked

While we are still awestruck by the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, the PlayStation 6 is slowly knocking on the door.

After quite a bit of information was leaked about the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo chose eggs for its money. It presented the new console in a compact video without releasing details. Now the PlayStation 6 seems to be the victim of leaked information.

A reliable source has revealed new information about the PlayStation 6. In it, he provides more information about what kind of processor we can expect in the console.

Information leaked about the PlayStation 6

The Nintendo Switch is due out sometime this year and seems to be building on the success of its predecessor. Sony hopes to do the same with the PlayStation 6. Although the company hopes that what the console will look like will remain a mystery to many, information is already on the street.

The news comes from Kepler2, who posted information on the NeoGAF forum. This user has a reliable reputation, so he may well be telling the truth. According to him, Sony is almost finished designing the chipset for the PlayStation 6.

While we don’t know exactly what kind of chipset will go into the PlayStation 6, we can glean some information from it. There will still be a few minor tweaks to be made, but after that, that chipset really seems to be ready for production.

And with that chipset production, we also know more about the console. With previous PlayStation models, production happened two years before the console launched. If Sony does the same with the PlayStation 6, that would mean the game console will come out in 2027.

A set pattern

In addition, Sony seems to be following another pattern. The PS3 came out in 2006, the PS4 in 2013 and the PS5 in 2020. If the PlayStation 6 comes in 2027, there will be seven years between a new console each time.

If rumors are to be believed, Sony is partnering with AMD for the PlayStation 6’s chipset. This would be a modified version of the 7nm AMD Zen 2 CPU. The GPU, or graphics unit, would be a modified AMD RDNA 5.

Sony, of course, is keeping its jaws tightly shut about the PlayStation 6. This year we can focus mainly on the Nintendo Switch 2. That promises to be a blast, despite the fact that we don’t know much about the hardware yet.
