How The Sims causes confusion among the Russian military

The war between Russia and Ukraine is one big drama, with terrible things going on. Outside of that war, there’s also a substantial propoganda war raging. And in that, the game The Sims is now playing a notable role.

Because according to the Russian secret service, a few Ukrainian citizens have been arrested who planned to kill TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov. But if you look at the find, including a few copies of The Sims 3, there may be a translation error here and the Russians fall through.

The Sims part of propaganda war

Website The New York Post reported the news, with a Twitter feed sharing a number of photos. And are again from the Russian secret service. Russia has long accused Ukraine of being a hotbed of Nazis. And so, of course, in the raid, a lot of material was “found” that points to that. But because three copies of The Sims 3 were found as evidence, you get the idea that things are slightly different.

The user below referred to this. Apparently the evidence required three SIM cards to be inserted, to show that communication would have taken place. But in the translation, that has thus become three copies of The Sims 3.

Guys, this isn’t about LGBT or any other stuff. Somebody from the top most likely wrote: “3 симки” (“three SIM cards”), and some genius obeyed.

Bellingcat waves it away

Eliot Higgins, who is considered the co-founder of the research team Bellingcat also has something to say about it. According to him, it is a stupid FSB officer who had to put down three SIMs and understood that as three copies of The Sims 3. And somewhere in all this misery, that’s something that I find funny again.

I genuinely believe this is a dumb FSB officer being told to get 3 SIMs.
