On Feb 15 Xbox shares good news for PlayStation 5

‘Huge Xbox title coming to PlayStation 5 next week’

Xbox has been bringing some of its games to the PlayStation 5 recently. This coming week there should be a really big hit.

Microsoft is slowly changing its strategy. Whereas at first it only brought its homegrown games to the Xbox and PC, now, for example, Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush can be played on the PlayStation 5.

Those are fun titles, but really big bangers like Halo, Forza and Starfield have yet to show up on the PlayStation 5. That will most likely change next week.

Xbox brings a big title to the PlayStation 5

Reliable leaker Shinobi claims Microsoft is announcing a major Xbox title that will be playable on the PlayStation 5 next week. This is confirmed by several other sources. While it is not yet known exactly which game it is, there is a huge amount of speculation.

One of the most frequently heard names is Forza 5. This would make the racing game a direct competitor to the PlayStation 5 hit Gran Turismo. However, a number of sources are debunking this game.

What are the other options?

That leaves a number of other major Xbox franchises. One is Halo, but that seems very unlikely. It’s the first game you think of on an Xbox, and it would be weird if Microsoft ceded its crown jewel to the PlayStation 5.

A game that seems more obvious is Gears of War. A new part of the franchise is due out soon, and that could be a reason to bring an older part to the PlayStation 5 in particular. This way, more players will be introduced to the game, which could possibly persuade gamers to purchase an Xbox Series S/X after all.

The great Xbox dilemma

And secretly, it makes sense for Xbox to look at other games to bring to the PlayStation 5. The first batch of games with Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush was a success. That first game saw a huge spike in player numbers when it launched on the Japanese console.

Yet it also raises question marks, as such an announcement is likely to go against the grain of fans of the console. Previously, they were faced with a Game Pass price increase, and now they may also be getting this news. The question is whether Microsoft wants that.
