There may be a remake of Dark Souls 3 for the PlayStation 5. Fans would much rather see another game from the series return.
For the hundredth time, you try. In vain. ‘You Died’ is written in blood-red letters on your screen. You would prefer to throw your PlayStation 5 through the window. Or at least the controller through your screen.
For those who have played Dark Souls games, the feeling sounds all too familiar. Despite the games’ unforgiving difficulty, games like Elden Ring remain immensely popular. Now a classic of the Souls series may be returning to PlayStation 5.
Dark Souls 3 may get a remake
The PlayStation 4 saw several great games from FromSoftware come along. From the original Dark Souls to the acclaimed PlayStation exclusive Bloodborne. Fans have been begging FromSoftware for years for a remake of the latter, something the PlayStation 5 would be perfect for.

Yet it looks like fans are getting another remake. Indeed, several rumors are circulating that FromSoftware is working on a remake for Dark Souls 3. If the rumors are true, it means FromSoftware is skipping Dark Souls 2 entirely.
Very bad fans don’t think so, as DS2 is always seen as the worst of the original trilogy. Still, it is extraordinary that Dark Souls 3 may be coming to PlayStation 5. The game is barely a decade old. Do we really need a remake for the PlayStation 5?
The game could use a refresh
Dark Souls 3 is not the most popular game in the series, but certainly not the worst either. FromSoftware took a more modern approach than previous Souls games. It allowed for more variety in fighting styles and magic.
In terms of graphics, the game never scored high and it was never as popular as Elden Ring is today. Still, it remains a beloved game among fans. That does not mean that any refresh for the game is not needed.

The graphics could easily be polished up to PlayStation 5 quality. Especially in terms of performance in the worse exposed areas, the game could use an upgrade. Some minor tweaks to improve the quality of the interface could never hurt. FromSoftware has already addressed the remaster of Demon Souls, for example.
Fans prefer Bloodborne on PlayStation 5 after all
It may only be rumors, but fans are clearly letting their dissatisfaction for the choice be heard. Not remastering Bloodborne for PlayStation 5 is a missed opportunity. Especially since the game was made exclusively for PlayStation, unlike the other Souls games.
Bloodborne also functioned perfectly as an introduction to the Souls games. In terms of storyline, the game stood completely on its own, which made it less intimidating for new gamers to try the game. In addition, Elden Ring provided a whole bevy of new Souls fans, which would help Bloodborne’s sales figures.
Concrete information about a Dark Souls 3 remake are not yet available. And that’s just good news for your controller; all the less likely it will be thrown out the window when those blood-red letters with “You Died” reappear on your screen.
