Anyone who has been playing Hogwarts Legacy for some time knows that there are an awful lot of Merlin Trials in the popular game. The little puzzles are fun, but can sometimes cause some frustration. Fortunately, there is a way to make it easier on yourself.
Online, a handy trick pops up that makes the puzzles within Hogwarts Legacy a lot easier. Not only will you complete your Challenges faster, but you’ll also be sitting behind your PlayStation, Xbox or PC just a little more relaxed.
Hogwarts Legacy: nifty trick makes Merlin Trials easier
As a player of Hogwarts Legacy, you get to deal with Merlin Trials pretty quickly. Nora Treadwell introduces the little puzzles at the beginning of the game, adding an extra layer to your adventure. Generally the puzzles are easy to solve, but there are variants that are a little more difficult to solve.
A good example are the Merlin Trials with butterflies. Although Hogwarts Legacy does not give you a very difficult task (lead butterflies with Lumos to a pillar), these are among the most time-consuming puzzles.
Players are quick to pick up butterflies piece by piece with Lumos and lead them group by group to a pillar. Sounds logical, but Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t necessarily require this. So it can be a lot easier.
Use Lumos and make sure you first take all three groups of butterflies with you. Then walk with your character along all three pillars and you’re done! The Merlin Trial is complete and you can move on to the next one.

It could be even easier
In addition to the above, you can make it even easier on yourself in these Merlin Trials. For example, butterflies in Hogwarts Legacy are more visible at night. You can wait for it, but through the Map it is also possible to change the time with the corresponding button (located at the bottom right of the Map).
In addition, it’s also best to quickly map out a route for your character. As soon as you climb or jump in Hogwarts Legacy, a spell like Lumos will be broken. So before you collect the butterflies, look carefully at exactly how you want to do this to save yourself some time.
Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy are not part of the main story, but do allow you to complete the game in its entirety. As far as we’re concerned, it’s worth it!
