Did you all have Pokémon cards in your youth? Then this new game for iPhone and Android will be your newest addiction.
Probably, like me, you spent way too much money on Pokémon cards in your youth. And still you didn’t have them all. A new game for iPhone and Android devices is going to bring back that hype all over again.
Nintendo is bringing a new game to iPhone and Android devices. Well, it’s not entirely new, as it was playable on the GameBoy Advance years ago.
The new Pokémon game for iPhone and Android
Next month, Nintendo is bringing Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket to Android devices and the iPhone. This game should really give you the feeling of the old days. One of the main aspects in the game is opening packs and collecting cards. In addition, of course, you can also just play the card game itself on your smartphone.
Each player gets to open two free packs every day when you log in to the app on iPhone or Android. In doing so, you can choose from three different options. Each booster pack consists of five different cards. In total, there are eight different categories of rarity for the cards. More exclusive cards also have special graphic effects.
Do you have quite a collection of Pokémon cards by now? Then you can bind them in a special digital album. You can also design that album yourself on your iPhone and Android device.
Fighting others
Although collecting Pokémon cards is the focus of the app, you can also still do what the cards are really for: play the game. Battles are important, and for that you can create special decks to suit your tactics. However, the game has been slightly modified for the mobile version: for example, your deck can only consist of a maximum of 20 cards instead of 60, and HP and energy are automatically displayed. The first to reach three points wins.
Decks have been made smaller to make the game faster. However, it is not as fast as Marvel Snap on your Android device or iPhone. There is a maximum play time on a 20-minute game, but as a rule, you will finish earlier. If you win, you get experience points and can also unlock rewards, such as new cards.
As with many games for iPhone or Android, the game includes special microtransactions. But there is no need to spend money on the game.
The new game revolving around Pokémon cards should be released on Android devices and the iPhone on Oct. 30. Whether it will also come out in the Netherlands remains to be seen, as decks of cards can be considered loot boxes. Because of this, the makers of a Harry Potter game chose not to launch the game in our country.
