Online, the first images of the Nintendo Switch 2 are leaking out, but if this is the design of the new console we are in for little news.
Things are exciting in the gaming world, as the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 must be close at hand. Online, at least, we can already get acquainted with the new console. Thanks to CAD renders, based on recent rumors, we can see what the device has in store in terms of design.
With Nintendo, things don’t usually leak out very often, but the last few weeks have been good hits. That could mean two things. Either leakers are impatient and letting their creativity run wild, or Nintendo is actually close to an announcement.
Nintendo Switch 2 design seen in renders
CAD renders originally from a Chinese social media platform are being shared on Reddit. These digital renders were created through leaked information that surfaced in recent weeks. In other words, the image outlined is quite accurate.
Should that actually be the case, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have an appearance that looks very familiar to us. The combination between a console and a handheld has received an improved design with the OLED variant, and the new console seems to be building on that.

The images are not yet official, but reliable sources report that outside parties confirm that this is the design Nintendo says to consider.
So while we like the current design, especially in terms of screen size, we don’t have to expect a whole lot new. At least, not at first glance. Those who take a closer look do see the necessary differences.
Bigger screen, new Joy-Cons and mysterious button
The CAD renders confirm a few rumors we heard earlier. First, the Nintendo Switch 2’s display is a bit larger than the OLED variant. That console features a 7-inch display (the original 6.2-inch), where the new version features an 8-inch display.
In terms of dimensions, changes can also be found. The original Switch has dimensions of 239 x 102 x 14 mm, the OLED variant 242 x 102 x 14 mm and the Switch 2 probably 270 x 115 x 14 mm.

The Joy-Cons are also attached to the Nintendo Switch 2 slightly differently than on the current model. Whereas you currently slide the controllers onto the side of the Switch via a rail, you can simply snap the new variant onto it. This system reportedly works via magnets, making it slightly more accessible to use.
What does stand out is that the renders show a mysterious round button. This sits above the square button you use to take a screenshot on the current Switch and Switch OLED. What this button can do is not clear at this time. That is why it is mysterious…

The possible specs of the Nintendo Switch 2
Under the hood, the necessary improvements can also be found. For example, there are two LPDDR45X RAM sticks in the console with 6GB of working memory each. So in total, there is 12GB of working memory in the Nintendo Switch 2, while the first model had only 4GB.
In terms of storage capacity, it also gets better. The original Switch got 32GB, the OLED version 64GB and this new model will reportedly get 256GB of storage capacity.
When we can expect the Nintendo Switch 2 is not yet clear, but that it will be announced this year is almost certain. Whether it will also appear this year …
