Whether you dock your Nintendo Switch or use it as a handheld; dust and fingerprints are inevitable. High time to clean the device from head to toe. WANT editor Sabine explains how to go about it.
Before cleaning an electrical appliance, it is important to disconnect the power. Turn it off and remove the charging cable and other accessories. Are you using a screen protector? If so, feel free to leave it on. The edge of the protective layer is best cleaned with a cotton swab.
Nintendo Switch cleaning
Use a soft, clean (microfiber) cloth to clean your Nintendo Switch. Avoid rougher materials such as kitchen paper or a tea towel. After all, you don’t want to scratch the screen. Dampen the cloth with water. Also apply a little disinfectant with a seventy percent alcohol content to the cloth. Never do this directly on the device.
Then wring out the cloth thoroughly. This will prevent moisture from getting between the edges and into the ports of your Nintendo Switch. Next, gently rub the screen. Rather than pressing too hard, repeat this once. Don’t forget the rest of the handheld as well. At the end, dry the device thoroughly with a dry cloth.

Don’t forget these parts
All hard-to-reach places, such as the speakers and the USB port of the Nintendo Switch, are best cleaned with a cotton swab or a toothpick with sticky tape. In any case, never use a needle or other metal object for this. After all, that can cause considerable damage.
When cleaning the Joy-Cons, also use a microfiber cloth with a little disinfectant. Don’t forget the area under the thumbsticks and along the edges of the buttons. Wipe these areas with a cotton swab or the cloth. Are you done? Good, then your Nintendo Switch is spic and span again. For now, at least.
