We all know Animal Crossing from the corona era, when the game was hugely popular. Nintendo is now coming out with a paid version for smartphones, in which you will no longer be able to make in-app purchases.
The idea of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, as the new game is called, is similar to that of other games in the series, such as those on the Nintendo Switch. You are a puppet and live in a world where you can do all sorts of things. Among other things, you can cut down trees and plant them again, fish and walk around. And in addition, you have your own tent, which you can decorate to your heart’s content.
The new version of the game is available for download starting today, for 9.99 euros. You can install the game on either an iPhone or Android phone. There was already a mobile version of Animal Crossing, but it was taken offline by Nintendo earlier this year. In that game, you had to make a lot of in-app purchases. In the new game, you can’t, which was the goal of the gamemaker.
You can transfer your Animal Crossing progress
If you already had progress in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, as the old game was called on mobile devices, you can transfer that progress back into the new game. To do so, you have to log in with your Nintendo account. You can do that until June 2, 2025, The Verge writes.
In addition to no longer having to make in-app purchases in the new game, you can finally play Animal Crossing offline. In the previous version of the game on smartphones, you couldn’t. As in that version of the game, in addition, you also have events every season.
You can use designs from the Nintendo Switch
There are also innovations. Namely, you can import designs you created on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the version of the game on the Nintendo Switch, to the mobile game. Those custom designs can then be used again in different ways in the mobile game. In the video above from Nintendo, you can see how that works, and what you can do with it.
The $9.99 price for the game is valid until Jan. 31. After that, the price will be doubled. So if you are a big fan of Animal Crossing, you may be smart to purchase the game soon.
