Of course, enhanced version Skyrim is coming to the Nintendo Switch

Last year, Bethesda celebrated the ten-year anniversary of the Skyrim series with the release of the game’s so-called Anniversary Edition. That is, so to speak, the ultimate game. The big question at the time was whether the game was going to get another such update on the Nintendo Switch.

And that chance seems to be very high. Because where Skyrim was missing on the Nintendo Switch last year, it could very well get a second chance this year. That’s according to a rating board from Taiwan. Games often show up this way, because they need to have an age rating beforehand.

Skyrim again to the Nintendo Switch

And so Bethesda seems to be managing to release a new Skyrim game after all. We’ve lost count by now. Just over a decade ago the game came out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Then a version came out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Also, there was a variant that could be played on PlayStation VR. As if that wasn’t enough, there were also several Game of the Year variants that were offered with various improvements and the DLC expansions. And so a few years ago there was like a version for the Nintendo Switch. But that was kind of a bare-bones version.

The Anniversary Edition of Skyrim which is thus now likely to come to the Nintendo Switch is the enhanced version of the base game. Thus, it comes with the expansions Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn. Furthermore, you get 500 pieces of content from the so-called Creation Club. This way you get access to a load of new quests, dungeons, bosses and of course weapons to defeat enemies with. This makes the game really fun to play for the 73rd time. Something I did last year and wrote the review of here.

Sequel is a long time coming

And for now, it looks like Bethesda is dead set on re-releasing Skyrim versions. Because looking at the status of The Elder Scolls VI, that game really does seem to be a few years away. First, the developer will release Starfield, but that game has been pushed back to 2023.
