The glitch that PlayStation Network was struggling with was resolved after 24 hours. The problems arose from Friday to Saturday.
PlayStation Network allows you to play games with others on your PlayStation. The system is also used to buy games in PlayStation’s shop. Because of the glitch, none of this was possible. People could not log into their accounts, see which friends were online or play games purchased online.
Initially, Sony, the company behind PlayStation, shared little about the problems. That caused frustrated reactions from gamers. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Japanese company shared via X that the outage is over. “We apologize for the inconvenience,” the company wrote in part.
Unknown why PlayStation Network was not working
It is still unknown what caused the PlayStation Network to not work for so long. Sony has not shared anything about that. It is not often that the company’s systems do not function for so long. Moreover, the timing was extra unfortunate. There is naturally more gaming on weekends than during the week.
Both people with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 experienced problems this weekend. Fortunately, there is also good news for the duped users. Namely, people with PlayStation Plus will receive five days of free subscription renewal. PlayStation Plus with many games required if you want to play online.
Outage likely cost Sony a lot of money
Sony thanks gamers for being patient this weekend. The five days of free PlayStation Plus start automatically. You don’t have to do anything for that as a user. Normally, a month of PlayStation Plus costs around 9 euros.
The PlayStation Network outage will undoubtedly have cost Sony a lot of money in part because of this. In fact, the company probably also lost a lot of money because people were unable to spend money through their accounts. It is therefore to be hoped for both the company and gamers that a similar outage does not occur again soon. Fortunately, the entire weekend did not go down the drain.
