The PlayStation 6 probably won’t come out until 2027. Still, we already know quite a bit about this brand new console from Sony.
Have you caught up on the news about the PlayStation 5 Pro? This beast will be the most powerful next-gen console we’ve ever seen. Sony showed off this handsome piece of technology at their last meeting.
You won’t believe it, but the PlayStation 5 Pro is not even on the market yet, or we already have a lot of information about the PlayStation 6. This futuristic console should surpass even the almighty PlayStation 5 Pro. Here’s what we already know about the PS6.
When can we expect the PlayStation 6?
The PS5 Pro will be released in the fall of 2024. How long is there between the release of this console and the entry of yet another generation of PlayStations? According to an official document from Microsoft in its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the year 2027 is mentioned.
That document contained a number of legal issues regarding Microsoft’s then-announced acquisition of Call of Duty. It briefly mentioned a new generation of consoles: the PlayStation 6.
That picture is pretty accurate considering the lifespan of the previous PlayStations. Between the PS3 and the PS4 was about seven years. Between the PS4 and the PS5 was also seven years. Since the PlayStation 5 appeared around 2020, 2027 would be a pretty logical timeframe.
The price of the PlayStation 6
Don’t worry, you certainly weren’t the only one who had to let the announced price of the PlayStation 5 Pro sink in for a while. At its cheapest, meaning without discreader, it’s going to cost you 800 euros. That’s quite a chunk of money.

It is thus obvious that the PlayStation 6 will continue this lucrative trend. Possibly, as with the PS5, Sony will offer a variant with or without a discreader. Making a price estimate three years in the future is certainly not accurate, but certainly keep in mind a price of at least 600 euros.
Hardware and technical gadgets
That hefty price tag for the PlayStation 6 is not for nothing. A new generation of consoles brings with it another host of improvements in the technical field. Tech fanatics are already fantasizing about what the future successor to the PlayStation 5 will bring us.
Sony is at least continuing its partnership with chip manufacturer AMD. At least AMD’s chips and video cards are high-end. That’s not all, as there is fierce speculation about a feature that should win over hesitant buyers: PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution
This super resolution would mean that we can see games sharper and faster than ever before. To throw in some technical terms, games run at 4K resolution at 120 fps or even 8K at 60 fps. We have never seen games this lifelike.
This technology is already part of the PS5 Pro. Chances are Sony will further enhance this super resolution for their PlayStation 6. What other tech gadgets the console will get we hope to hear over the years.
