Because of the Nintendo Switch, the Wii U has been forgotten. This console now appears to be dying a quiet death. Fans are panicking.
Many people will have forgotten again, but the predecessor of the Nintendo Switch was an absolute flop. That’s a big difference from the massive success of the Switch 2.
With the Nintendo Switch’s successor on the way, no one seems to be looking back. Yet a few loyal Nintendo fans did just that. And as it turns out, the success of the Nintendo Switch is now quietly killing the Wii U. You don’t wish that on any console.
Even the Wii U doesn’t deserve this fate
In fact, everything that works perfectly on the Nintendo Switch is what didn’t work on its predecessor. The Wii U was a flop and both Nintendo and loyal fans forgot about the thing as soon as possible. Too bad, because although the thing had its flaws, it was a good first step toward the premium console that would later become the Switch.

For now, the Wii U only catches a lot of dust among those who still have one at home. Especially now that all eyes are on the successor to the Nintendo Switch. We are getting to know more and more about this console. Still, there were a few loyal Wii U fans who once plugged in their console and made a shocking discovery.
The Wii U is quietly dying. And we don’t mean closing the E-Shop, as Nintendo often does with old consoles. No, when the Wii U is not connected to the mains power for a long time it has disastrous consequences for the internal memory. As a result, the console simply breaks down.
Calling fans to save the console
With the success of the Nintendo Switch, it won’t be high on your to-do list to give the Wii U a go. Yet experts heartily recommend doing so. Once the Wii U’s internal memory is broken, it can hardly be saved.
Especially since Nintendo announced a while back that spare parts for the Wii U are no longer available. They won’t be made anymore either. In itself, this is not very surprising since the console has been around since 2012 and has never really been popular.

Fortunately, saving your Wii U is really as simple as briefly plugging it in. A small effort that saves your console from a silent death. For the Wii U, there is still a community of loyal fans who are now warning each other about this danger.
Older consoles are more resilient than Wii U
It is striking that this is happening with the Wii U. With Nintendo’s old consoles, such as the N64 and the SNES, these problems hardly ever occur. Even with the original Wii, memory corruption (as the technical ailment is called) barely occurs.
It is only to be hoped that the same fate does not await the Nintendo Switch. Should the Nintendo Switch 2 prove so popular that no one reaches for its predecessor, in a few years we might have to do the same as we did with the Wii U.
Whether the Switch 2 will actually become as popular as the Switch remains to be seen. Only limited information about the console is still available. Wondering what we already know about this successor so far? You can read it here:
