This is what the Joy-Cons of the new Nintendo Switch are going to look like

It looks like we can expect the new Nintendo Switch this year. Leaked images suggest that that device’s Joy-Cons will have a new design.

Recently, plenty of rumors have surfaced about the new Nintendo Switch 2, which will most likely be released in the first half of this year. The game console will succeed the current Switch, which is already years old.

We previously heard that the new Joy-Cons would be magnetic, and that Joy-Con drift would be addressed by Nintendo. New images indeed show that the Joy-Cons may be getting a new design. However, it cannot be seen if they will be magnetic, or still have to be slid onto the Switch.

Unfortunately, no front cover of new Joy-Con

The images were shared on Reddit, but were first shared on a Chinese forum. The images show the side of a Joy-Con. Another image shows the back. The front, which contains all the important buttons, remains a mystery. The Reddit user did not share any images of that.

We don’t know if the images are real, but there are several Nintendo details on the back of the Joy-Con. So it could just be a new Joy-Con from the Switch 2. The Joy-Con is black, but the side (which is how you attach it to the Switch) is blue. Moreover, the buttons on the side would be larger than on the current version of the game console.

We’ll have to wait a little longer for the new Nintendo Switch

We’ll have to wait a while longer before we know definitively what the Nintendo Switch 2 will be like. Until then, more rumors will undoubtedly keep popping up. We will, of course, report on those.

In an earlier article, we listed what we now know about the new Switch. For example, the device can run games from the previous generation Switch, which is useful for people who have bought many games that they would like to keep playing. Furthermore, the new console is expected to cost around 500 euros. That’s more expensive than a PlayStation 5.
