One Nintendo classic after another is getting a remake on the Nintendo Switch 2. This forgotten Legend of Zelda game is not to be missed.
Nintendo’s great mascots have received some of the best games ever in their entire series on the Nintendo Switch. Mario Oddyssey, for example, or the amazing twang that Legend of Zelda brought with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
It didn’t stop there for the adventures of Link (AND Zelda this time). Echoes of Wisdom and Link’s Awakening also brought the old-school style of games. It set the bar high for the Switch 2, which is why this forgotten Zelda game should not be missed.
Original multiplayer for Zelda
I’m talking about The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. This 3DS game built on the great successes of the previous Zelda games on the (3)DS, such as Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Yet it has a special element, because for the first time in the Zelda series, the game was designed for multiplayer.

Multiplayer of The Legend of Zelda is not new. With Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, you had multiplayer mini-games. But with Tri Force Heroes, the entire game was designed to be played with your buddies. In fact, there were three possible Links to play.
So you could solve puzzles with two other friends and brawl with enemies in typical The Legend of Zelda style. You had to be pretty close to each other though because the 3DS’s connection capabilities were not yet as spiffy as, say, the Switch is now.
Bad time to come out
The game came out in 2015 and immediately received rave reviews. IGN, for example, gave the game an 8.5, with additional compliments for its well-designed levels and multiplayer capabilities. Unfortunately, the game came out at a terrible time.
Indeed, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes came out toward the end of the 3DS’s life cycle. The recently released Wii U had flopped tremendously and Nintendo’s future was equally uncertain. At the same time, we just got the first announcement for a new game: Breath of the Wild.

With that, most fans were already looking further into the future and trying to forget about Nintendo’s flops at the time. With that, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes was dragged into a somewhat negative movement to forget about the current generation (3DS, Wii U).
Nintendo Switch 2 is perfect for this remake
The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes deserves a comeback on the Nintendo Switch 2. Like its predecessor, the console offers an awful lot of collaborative play. In that regard, it is remarkable that no multiplayer Zelda has appeared on the Switch to date.
The game could perfectly be played in docking mode, with everyone holding their own Joy-Con. At the same time, the Switch has already shown that multiplayer without your buddies next to you on the couch works perfectly as well: Splatoon, Super Mario Bros.: Wonder and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
A graphical remake is therefore obvious. Here, Nintendo would again build on the Chibi style that Link’s Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom introduced. On the other hand, a polished version of the pixelated wouldn’t be out of place either, a bit like Octopath Traveler does.
In any case, there are plenty of possibilities for a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes on the Nintendo Switch 2. For now, no Zelda game is in the pipeline. We can, however, expect a new Mario Kart. Wondering what that will mean for the series? you can read about it here:
