Do you own a Volkswagen? If so, it will soon be possible to play games in your electric car while charging it.
Charging your electric car can take quite some time. Especially when you’re on the road, it can be quite frustrating and often leads to boredom. Fortunately, Volkswagen has now found a solution.
The German brand will soon let you play games while charging your electric car. In doing so, the company is following in the footsteps of Tesla, where this is already possible.
Gaming in your electric car from Volkswagen
Volkswagen now has a whole fleet of electric cars with its ID line. In the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.7 you will soon be able to play games after an update. In addition, it should soon also be possible to play in the new Passat, Tiguan, Golf and Golf Estate.
The new feature will be called AirConsole. This is a special app that will appear on your Volkswagen Active screen. When you activate it, a QR code will appear that you have to scan with your smartphone. Then you can use it as a controller. Even passengers sitting in the back seat can play along with the multiplayer games.

What about driving safety, you may be wondering? No need to worry about that, as you can only game when your Volkswagen is parked. This makes it an ideal pastime when you need to charge your electric car on the road.
Gaming at other brands
With the new feature, Volkswagen follows BMW, which already has AirConsole built into some of its models. Tesla even went a step further: there it was possible to play games in your electric car via Steam. Unfortunately, Tesla decided earlier this year to no longer support this feature.
Although it is mainly about simple games via AirConsole, we are especially looking forward to the cooperation between Honda and Sony in the future. In those cars, it should also be possible to play PS5 games. During the presentation of the model at CES this year, the car was even controlled with a PlayStation 5 controller. However, this was a demonstration, and it does not appear that this will also be possible in the consumer version.
