Almost with anything, a beer makes it just a little more enjoyable. No, I’m not an alcoholic, but what could be better than enjoying Netflix while enjoying a yellow cracker? Well, maybe Apple TV+ binging, in this case. The streaming service is now coming out with a movie centered around beer.
Apple TV+ is getting a new series every week or so. Where people first complained about a small selection, all the new content has now filled it up. That will soon be joined by a new movie for which Zac Efron has the lead role.
The Greatest Beer Run Ever
The Apple TV+ movie has the unusual name The Greatest Beer Run Ever. It is based on the book of the same name by authors Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue. The latter is also the subject of the story. To show support for his neighbor friends who are serving during the Vietnam War, Chickie Donohue decides to do something totally outrageous. He travels to the front lines by himself to bring the soldiers a little piece of home. He brings along their favorite American beer.
What started out as a well-intentioned trip soon turns into the adventure of a lifetime as Chickie faces the realities of war and his reunion with his childhood friends bring him into complexities and responsibilities of adulthood. Apple TV+ calls the film an incredible true story that is simultaneously a heartfelt coming-of-age tale of friendship, loyalty and sacrifice.
The streaming service is now dropping a trailer for the film. That way we know roughly what to expect from the production.
Zac Efron and Russell Crowe to work for Apple TV+
The lead role in this special film is Zac Efron. He takes on the role of Chickie Donhue. That’s certainly not the only big name participating in the Apple TV+ production. There are also roles for Russell Crowe, Bill Murray and Kyle Allen.
You’ll have to wait a while for the film. Its release on Apple TV+ is scheduled for September 30 this year.
