Since 2020, Apple has barely done anything to the chip of its various smartwatches. With the Ultra 2 and Series 9, that’s changing. The new S9 chip that goes into the watch performs considerably better than previous versions released in recent years.
Personally, you’re going to notice the arrival of the new chip in the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9 mainly when you’re opening new apps or reloading data. That will be significantly faster than, say, the S8 chip in the first Ultra and Series 8. Widgets also work a lot better on the new smartwatches.
