Does your iPhone battery drain faster when you update operating system iOS? According to Apple, this is quite normal.

We can hardly avoid updating our iPhones regularly. If you don’t, you get annoying notifications for as long as it takes you to change your mind. Yet this is not entirely strange, because new updates contain solutions to bugs and security problems are regularly addressed. Yet updating sometimes has its drawbacks. It seems that each update drains your battery faster. Yet that is not entirely true according to Apple.

Less battery after update?

After every update, you routinely hear users complaining that their battery lasts less than before. Some of those people even think that Apple does this on purpose so that customers consider buying a new iPhone. Yet according to Apple, this is not justified and is just a temporary phenomenon. The company is now letting us know why this is happening.

Recently, iOS version 15.4 has been rolled out. There again are the recurring complaints about less battery life on the iPhone. Under a tweet, Apple’s customer service now answers. “Thank you for getting in touch. We are happy to help you. It’s normal for your apps and features to take 48 hours to update.”

Twitter won’t load because you didn’t give permission.

Thanks for reaching out! We’ll be happy to help. It’s normal for your apps and features to need to adjust up to 48 hours after an update.

Let’s have you reach out to us in a DM if this is still an issue after that time so we can help you look into this further.

Processes on your iPhone

So it seems that the system is running some processes in the background to optimize the data on your iPhone. In addition, the system sometimes re-scans your photos with new algorithms to improve them even further. Those extra processes of course need extra processing power, which in turn causes more battery consumption.

So if it happens that your iPhone lasts a lot less time on a charge than normal, you should test it again after 48 hours. If the problem is still not solved then there might be something more going on.
