iOS 16 on old iPhones: ideal or secretly one big drama?

The secret button on your iPhone that you probably didnt

With iOS 16, Apple brings a new operating system to the market. With each new version, it always remains to be seen how well, mainly old, iPhone models pull it off.

Problems with the battery or lesser performance: it happens every now and then with an update. Does this also apply to iOS 16 or is the update ideal for users this time?

But does it work well?

Good. So the 2017 iPhone 8 is in a position to run iOS 16. Whether it’s wise, that remains to be seen. As mentioned above, it’s still possible for a model to lose out with the latest software on board.

After running several Geekbench 3 tests, YouTube channel iAppleBytes manages to draw the conclusion: you really don’t need to worry. As you can see in the video below, certain models even improve.

Take the iPhone 8, for example. The 2017 smartphone scored 2265 in the multi-core score with iOS 15, where it managed a score of 2394 with iOS 16. An improvement of just under 6%. The only problem is that the battery life decreases by 8%, but you get more power in return. So it is what you consider important.

In turn, the iPhone 12 manages to get more out of the battery. Its score of 4279 is a lot higher than the score it achieved with iOS 15.
