iPhone 15 Pro will be bizarrely fast and powerful according to latest rumors

Although it is still about six months before the iPhone 15 sees the light of day, there are already plenty of rumors. Yet now there is one that stands out. Namely, Apple’s new phone will be quite a bit more powerful and therefore faster.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, of course, have the A16 chip. This one is incredibly powerful and you wonder how much more Apple can squeeze out of it. Bizarre much it turns out if the latest rumors are to be believed. In fact, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are getting a major upgrade.

The A17 chip gets a major upgrade

Indeed, well-known Twitter user and Apple leaker ShrimpApplePro has shared data he found on Chinese platform Weibo. On it are scores from Geekbench about the A17 chip that will be in the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. According to the post, the chip scores 3019 and 7869 for single-core and multi-core, respectively.

Nice those numbers, but what exactly does that mean? We can compare them to the A16 chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. With that processor, Apple scored 2504 and 6314, respectively. So that means the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will be about 20 percent more powerful, which is certainly impressive.

Not just good news for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max

But this is not just fine news for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. If Apple is making such progress with the A17 chip, we’re also curious to see what it can do with the M3 chip in future MacBooks. This is because it uses the same 3nm architecture as what is the case with the A17. At 3nm, the chip has a higher density than the 5nm technology used in its predecessors. So that makes for a big speed boost.

Still, ShrimpApplePro is keeping a low profile. He tried to check it himself on GeekBench, but could not find the data. He therefore warns to take the news with a grain of salt.

Whether it’s all really the case, we probably won’t know until September of this year. That’s when the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will be unveiled.
