Is Touch ID not working Heres how your problems disappear

Is Touch ID not working? Here’s how your problems disappear like snow in the sun

Touch ID is a super convenient way to log in to your iPhone, iPad or MacBook. Generally, the login method works very quickly and smoothly, but sometimes it doesn’t. We explain how to troubleshoot problems with Apple’s fingerprint scanner.

Not every iPhone, iPad or MacBook has Touch ID, but if you do have one with this login method, it’s annoying when the feature doesn’t work once. It is often difficult to figure out the reason. Still, there are some things you can try to make the fingerprint scanner do its job again. We’ll go over them with you.

Touch ID troubleshooting

If Touch ID is not working (properly) on your iPhone, iPad or MacBook, the following tips may help. Rotate your finger left and right when you place it on the fingerprint scanner. This will ensure that the entire surface of your finger is scanned.

Another tip is to clean your hands and clean the Touch ID sensor of your iPhone, iPad or MacBook. There may be sweat or dirt on your fingers or on the sensor. This can interfere with the login process.

Resetting fingerprints

Something may have gone wrong with setting up your fingerprint. In that case, there is no other option but to register another fingerprint. Log into your device with your password or PIN. On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings and press Touch ID and Access Code. Press Add a fingerprint and follow the steps on the screen.

On a MacBook, go to the Apple menu and click System Settings. Scroll down and click Touch ID and Password. Then click Add Fingerprint and follow the on-screen instructions.
