Jony Ive joins hands with Apple TV for this animated

You will soon be able to watch a new animated film on Apple TV+, created by ex-Apple designer Jony Ive and others. The film in question is based on the book The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse written by Charlie Mackesy and released in September 2019. So this is a fairly recent release.

Although the book is still fairly young, it is considered an international bestseller. Reason enough to film it, Apple must have thought. The story revolves around the three animal friends, who set out with the boy. All four of them search for a home for the little guy.

The filmmakers, thus including Jony Ive, are taking Mackesy’s illustrations into consideration for the animated film. It is also already known which actors will lend their voices to the film. So you have BAFTA winner Tom Hollander as the mole and SAG winner Idris Elba as the fox. Golden Globe Award-winner Gabriel Byrne plays the horse.

So who will take on the role of the boy? That’s newcomer Jude Coward Nicoll. Apple is producing the short film in partnership with the BBC. The British broadcaster will broadcast the film during the upcoming holiday season in December in Britain. The rest of the world can watch on Apple TV+.

Who else is working on this?

Also working on the film are Matthew Freud and Cara Speller. Speller previously worked on the Netflix series Love, Death & Robots and thus has some experience with animated films. J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella have also signed on as producers, while Peter Baynton and Charlie Mackesy serve as directors.

The original soundtrack for the film is provided by Isobel Waller-Bridge, who is joined in it by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Geoff Alexander. In addition to Jony Ive, actor and producer Woody Harrelson is also listed as an executive producer.
