If ET News sources are to be believed, Apple is knocking on South Korea’s door this year. The U.S. company is reportedly going to get its hands on a new selfie camera for the iPhone 14.
That change could mean bad news for your wallet. This is because the new system would reportedly cost three times as much as the current model.
Selfie camera iPhone 14 will cost Apple more money
For the production of its new high-end selfie camera, Apple has left a Chinese party and is knocking on the door of South Korea. According to ET News sources, LG Innotek, along with Sharp, will handle the production of the new camera system. That Apple will end up with this party is not a big surprise, but the timing is. LG Innotek was reportedly going to produce the selfie camera for the iPhone 15, but the collaboration is starting a year earlier.
According to earlier rumors, from trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and others, the selfie camera will improve in quality. For example, the iPhone 14 is likely to offer autofocus functionality and feature a wider lens. This allows more light to fall into it which pays off directly in higher image quality. Not only advantageous for functionalities such as Portrait, but also for video calls with, for example, FaceTime.

However, Apple has to pay a nice price for this. ET News says that the new selfie camera for the iPhone 14 will cost the company about three times more than the current system.
A first impression
The launch of the iPhone 14 is still a long way off, but already a YouTuber has given a comprehensive first impression. Unbox Therapy launched a video last week in which he got to work with an expensive demo copy. This one did not work, but it already showed several design changes. Consider, for example, the larger camera system.
