Special Apple sneakers under the hammer for a hefty sum

You regularly see news stories about old Apple products, such as iPhones and Macs, going over the counter for hefty sums of money. But sneakers? Yes, Apple really made them and they now cost a fortune.

When you think of Apple, you think of devices like iPhones, iPads and Macs. Yet the company also used to make clothes in the 1980s and 1990s. Those still prove incredibly popular.

Extraordinary (expensive) Apple Sneakers

Auction house Sotheby’s is going to auction off a pair of sneakers and is betting pretty high. The starting price of the shoe is $50,000, so it may go even higher.

These Apple shoes were made especially for employees in the 1990s. They were a present during a conference and thus were never sold to the general public. This makes them an ideal collector’s item for the true fan.

The shoes are made of white leather. On them is the colored old logo of Apple. The company made the shoe together with Omega. Although the seller says they are in perfect condition, some yellow can be seen here and there.

The shoe is ideal for someone with slightly smaller feet, as it is a size 41. In addition, there are also red laces in the box, for when you get tired of the white ones.

No more clothing

Apple used to have a special clothing line. This included t-shirts, polo shirts and caps. For example, a t-shirt featured the colorful Apple logo and the Macintosh.

Today, Apple no longer makes clothing items. However, it still regularly has collaborations with clothing brands. For example, the luxury brand Hermès made special straps for the Apple Watch in collaboration with the company.

In recent years, older Apple products have been especially popular. For example, a first edition iPhone recently went under the hammer for $190,000. Compared to that device, these shoes are a bargain.
