These 5 AirPods Pro 2 features we can probably expect to see

There have been rumors about the AirPods Pro 2 for a long time now. We already have an idea of what the earphones will look like. We take you through the rumor mill and list 5 features we expect.

For years we have been hearing that the AirPods Pro 2 will be coming. Yet it still hasn’t come. They seem to be the next AirPods, since we saw the AirPods 3 last year. So there are strong rumors that the Pro 2 will come this year or early next year

What can we expect from the AirPods Pro 2?

Through all these years of rumors, we already have a reasonable picture, although of course it remains to be seen if it is all true. In this article I will at least list the five rumors that, in my opinion, have the greatest chance of coming true.

#1 Longer battery life

If we can expect anything, it’s better battery life. The competition is not sitting still and have already come out with several earphones that last longer on a full charge than the AirPods Pro. These earphones last six hours on a charge, while the Pro has to make do with 4.5 hours.

#2 H2 chip

The current AirPods Pro contains the H1 chip. Since it has been on the market for years, it is time for a new one. Ming-Chi Kuo already reported that the chip in the AirPods Pro 2 will get a big update. The most obvious is that it will be named H2. Unfortunately, Kuo did not tell us what the improvements exactly entail. Still, we expect better sound quality and improved active noise cancellation.

#3 Improved in-ear detection

Like the battery, this may be another feature Apple is taking from the AirPods 3, which has improved in-ear detection through a new sensor. We’d be surprised if we don’t see this back in the AirPods Pro 2. The Pro currently makes do with two optical sensors that are less accurate.

#4 Fitness tracking

This rumor dates back to 2021 and comes from the reliable Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. In the AirPods Pro 2, he says, there will be motion sensors that focus on sports. This also has another benefit, as the data can be used just fine for Apple’s Fitness app and its subscription service.

#5 Design of the AirPods Pro 2

The AirPods 3 received a neat metamorphosis, and it should come as no surprise to anyone if Apple thinly replicates this with the AirPods Pro 2. Gurman reported on this back in 2020. He reported then that the new Pro will have a more compact design. Possibly the stems will disappear, making it look a bit more like the Beats Studio Buds. However, there are also sources that claim that not much will change in terms of appearance.

It is possible that we will see a difference in terms of design in the case. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is making the switch to a USB-C connector for the earbuds.
