Tim Cook has good news for fans of Ted Lasso

While we are at peace with the fact that Ted Lasso has come to an end, all the dots are not yet in place. At least, as far as Apple CEO Tim Cook is concerned anyway. He might appreciate an extra season.

Ted Lasso, the comedy series that became the first unexpected hit on Apple TV+, received rave reviews for its recent season finale – and now Apple CEO Tim Cook wants more.

Apple’s Tim Cook loves Ted Lasso

Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), one of the creators and stars of Ted Lasso, has reported that Tim Cook does very much want to see a new season. Whether Cook will get it or not, however, remains an open question.

“Tim Cook visited the set one day. He grabbed his moment in the middle of the dressing room and he said, ‘Thanks for all your hard work, and I really hope there will be a season 4,'” Hunt said. “He spoke very stocky and funny, with a Beard style.”

Lasso is rightfully a huge success

Since its launch on Apple TV+ in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Ted Lasso drew a large audience thanks to a charming blend of wisdom and uninhibited, almost irritating optimism. The show came at just the right time for a world desperate for something – anything – with an uplifting message.

For three seasons, former Saturday Night Live member Jason Sudeikis portrayed main character Ted Lasso, a suave American football coach who is hired to lead a British soccer club out of revenge. Fun fact: Sudeikis is no stranger to the Netherlands; he already starred in Boom Chicago in Amsterdam. And the episode against Ajax was fantastic.

But here’s where the shoe pinches. Reportedly, the best man is a bit done with living in England. He rightly misses his family and has expressed a desire to be home more often again. Sudeikis is not really waiting for a fourth season. As far as he is concerned, the story has been told.

Bring on spin-offs

Edoch; earlier we heard rumors of a possible fourth season on Apple. There were also gossips about a Ted Lasso movie or spin-off that would focus on one of the other characters from the show.

“I don’t know if it will come back as a movie,” actor Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate Shelly on the show, recently stated to Esquire. “I’ve heard rumors of spin-offs … Who knows?”

But Hunt’s comments to the Times so far offer hope that someone with some influence in Cupertino wants more Ted Lasso. Go Tim!

But, first, the creative team will take a well-deserved break. And then they will determine what will happen next, if anything.

“Anything is possible now, including nothing,” Hunt told the Times. “It’s been so long full commitment for us that we’re going to pull back and take a break, and then we’ll get back together and take a look at what we’re going to do.”

No worries, then. Even the official Apple account on Twitter has hope.
