It’s probably the app you use the most on your iPhone: WhatsApp. It is the service to talk to your friends and family. As such, you don’t want the app to stop working. Yet that will soon be the case with some iPhone models.

Still, don’t be too scared, because it only applies to older iPhones. So for example, if you have an iPhone 14, 13 or 12, there is nothing to worry about. By the way, that also applies to slightly older models like the 8 and the X. No, it only becomes problematic with the really old ones.
WhatsApp stops supporting the iPhone 5 and 5C. Of course, it’s a long shot that you still own and use this device. In fact, it may be a miracle that it still works properly.

The iPhone 5 and 5C entered the market on September 21, 2012. So the devices are now more than 10 years old. So these are models running on iOS 10.3.2 at most. The iPhone 5S does still support WhatsApp. That’s because, like the 6 and 6 Plus, it runs on iOS 12 at most.
A logical decision
Of course, it makes sense for WhatsApp to stop supporting older iPhone models. Not only do very few people still use the devices, but newer features have been added that only higher specs can support. By the way, this applies not only to Apple, but also to Android.
So if you want to keep using WhatsApp, there’s no other option but to buy a newer model. This does not have to be a very expensive model, by the way. You can still buy the iPhone 12 and SE from Apple, but you can also buy a refurbished model from other providers, which means you pay even less.
