The Apple Watch Series 7: the step seems so small, but is much bigger than you might think. After using Apple’s new smartwatch for over a week, I can finally talk about it. Finally talking about the fact that the way I use the Apple Watch has changed forever.
In this review, I’ll explain why the Series 7 doesn’t seem all that interesting at first, but how it will ultimately change the lives of many a consumer.
‘The Apple Watch Series 7 is a minimal upgrade’
‘Here we go again,’ I thought during California Streaming. During Apple’s September event, I watched the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 7 rather bored. As with the iPhone 13, I didn’t see too many exciting things during the presentation of the new smartwatch. ‘The Apple Watch Series 7 is a minimal upgrade’ was my first thought.
And prove me wrong. The new Apple Watch Series 7 featured new color options: Starlight, (PRODUCT) RED, Midnight, Blue and Green. The existing straps could still be used, but Apple would also bring new straps to market. Not to mention the company didn’t even bother to put a new processor in the device.

No, beforehand I didn’t expect to be so excited about the new Apple Watch. Because man, how wrong I was at the time.
A larger screen with great benefits
The jump between the Apple Watch Series 7’s screen and its predecessor (the Series 6) doesn’t seem that big at first. After all, the new 1.9-inch Retina LTPO OLED screen is only 0.12-inch larger than the previous Retina LTPO OLED screen. Consumers are looking at less thick screen bezels (1.7mm), have 20% more screen area and can enjoy clearer dials. The benefits are especially evident with Contour, Modular Duo, Portrait and World Clock. But those who look further will only notice the magic.
The larger screen of the Apple Watch Series 7 is making consumers more attracted to regular use of the smartwatch. That has to do with the improved UI that takes full advantage of that larger screen. In applications such as stopwatch or calculator, the buttons have been made larger so that they are easier to use than in the previous model. You can type your password more easily and read up to 50% more text. It’s all just a little more user-friendly.
Like the fact that you can now actually answer apps and emails on your Apple Watch Series 7. This has everything to do with the keyboard which, despite the negativity around it, increases the ease of use. You won’t write long pieces of text with it, but a short answer is easily given. And that is a world of difference from the previous model. Especially since you now actually have the space to give that answer.

Faster charging changes everything
So the ease of use of your Apple Watch Series 7 is also just a little bit greater due to the slightly larger screen. Although it is mainly the charging of the battery that makes you actually use the Apple Watch more often.
Last year, consumers who wanted to use the new sleep monitor ran into a problem. Suddenly they had to make a choice about what time of day to use the Apple Watch. So that comes to an end with the Apple Watch Series 7, considering I barely took my smartwatch off in the past week.
That has everything to do with the fact that the product has enough charge within eight minutes to measure your entire night and is charged enough (80%) within 45 minutes to last all day. Every morning, when I’m getting myself ready for the day and enjoying my breakfast, the Series 7 is on the charger. Every evening, half an hour before I go to sleep and play the entire Internet in bed, the Series 7 is on the charger. Enough to ensure that the smartwatch can be used at any other time of both day and night.
It is, along with the usability that is created by the screen, a world of difference from the Series 6.

Apple Watch Series 7: a wolf in sheep’s clothing
So the Apple Watch Series 7 is really a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It seems like a very small step on paper, but it changes the way you use the smartwatch forever. If you are someone who is looking for that, I would even recommend trading in your Apple Watch Series 6 for the new model.
Are you someone who doesn’t need to measure their sleep or doesn’t need more interaction with their smartwatch? Then it’s fine to wait a little longer before making the move. But believe me when I say that the benefits that the Series 7 has given me really manage to surprise me.
