You obviously want to enjoy your smartphone as long as possible before you have to hang it on the charger again. But where do you find the best battery life, with iPhone or Android?
2024 is a great year for smartphones with great battery life. Samsung and OnePlus came out with super durable Android models, and Google finally improved the Pixel’s battery significantly. Also, don’t forget the new iPhone 16 models are outperforming their predecessors.
But which is better at delivering long battery life smartphones: iPhone or Android? Tom’s Guide has tested this extensively and listed the best devices. We have the answer for you.
Android vs. iPhone which devices last the longest?
With so many phones these days having long battery life, it’s harder than ever to make the smartphone with the longest battery life. For both Android and iPhone. A phone must last more than 14 hours to have a chance of making it into the top 15.
Some phones really do manage to exceed 14 hours. Just look at the ROG Phone 8 Pro, which currently tops the list. Next comes the OnePlus 12R, an impressive midrange phone that doesn’t require you to pay a premium price to still get top battery life.

In this battery test, smartphones continuously surf the Internet via 5G until they run out of power. The screen is set to a brightness of 150 nits so the results are as fair as possible. Does the phone have a screen with a high refresh rate? Then it is tested both with the feature on and off.
On average, a phone lasts just over 10 hours, so anything above that level has good battery life. But to get into this list of the best batteries, a phone must pass the 14-hour mark. The best Android and iPhone models far exceed this.
Here’s the winner
During the test, the battle between Android and iPhone continued unabated. The big question, of course, is which platform has the most devices in the top 15. The winner? Android! The iPhone is represented by only two models: the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the 16 Plus.
All phones in this list for best battery life were tested over the past 18 months. Asus leads the list with several devices in the top four, while Motorola also scores strongly with four models in the top 15. In addition, flagships from Samsung, OnePlus, Apple and Google also secured their spots.
