If you are a Ben or Simpel customer, until now you had to make do with 4G. That is about to change, because with a free upgrade you will get access to 5G starting in the coming weeks.
Ben and Simpel are Odido’s budget brands. They offer subscriptions at a lower price, but there was a downside to this. For example, you could not use 5G.
But that’s about to change, because Odido is going to give its Ben and Simpel access to 5G. So you’ll soon have considerably faster mobile Internet if you’re a customer of either of them.
5G for Simpel and Ben customers
Existing Ben and Simpel subscribers have already been informed over the past few days that their Internet speed will improve significantly. Future customers will also be able to use the 5G network.
Customers of Ben and Simpel do not have to do anything for this. This conversion happens automatically. There are no additional costs involved.

Still, there is a condition you need to meet to get the maximum speed at Ben and Simpel. To use 5G, you need a suitable device. Most new smartphones are suitable for 5G, but especially with older cheaper devices, this is not always the case. So you will have to check that carefully.
The difference between 4G and 5G
The biggest difference between 4G and 5G is speed. In theory, 4G has a maximum speed of 1 gigabit per second, but in practice it is often between 20 and 100 megabits per second.
With 5G, this maximum is at 20 gigabits per second, but in practice it is often between 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps. That’s still faster than 4G, and so you’re getting ahead with Ben and Simpel.
In addition, with 5G you also tend to experience less network congestion. 5G can support up to a million devices per square kilometer, whereas with 4G it is less. This also makes 5G important for the Internet of Things (IoT).
One of the last major advantages is that a 5G connection requires less energy than 4G. OK, then of course you shouldn’t suddenly start using significantly more data just because you have a faster connection.
