2025 promises to get off to a great start, with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 in the first quarter. The device bodes well.
The rumor mill about the Samsung Galaxy S25 is running at full speed. Samsung’s latest flagship model again promises many interesting improvements, but what exactly do we already know?
Time is slowly but surely ticking towards its release and we are starting to know more and more about its new features, design and performance. Here’s a rundown of what we know so far about the Samsung Galaxy S25, including the Plus and Ultra.
Will the Samsung Galaxy S25 be released in February
Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S25 will come out sometime in the first half of 2025. If they stick to their usual schedule, we may already be able to see the new devices during Galaxy Unpacked on January 23, 2025. The actual release date will probably be two weeks later, around Feb. 6.
As for the price, we expect it to be similar to the Galaxy S24 series. So the S25 will cost around €799, the S25 Plus around €999 and the S25 Ultra around €1,299. However, rumors are circulating that the prices could be a bit higher, mainly because of the new, more expensive Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, so we’ll have to wait and see exactly how the prices go.

Looking at the design of the Galaxy S25, the changes are not huge. The S25 will likely get a slightly larger screen of 6.36 inches, compared to the S24’s 6.2 inches, making the phone just slightly larger.
The Ultra version will likely get a titanium frame, making the phone stronger and lighter than the aluminum versions of the S25 and S25 Plus. This difference is especially noticeable with the Ultra, which is also likely to get a rounder back so that it fits better in the hand.
The new Snapdragon chip
In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy S25 runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which promises considerable improvements in speed and energy efficiency. The chip is up to 44 percent more energy efficient than the previous version and also delivers better graphics performance, which is perfect for gaming and heavy apps.
In addition, the Galaxy S25 series could get satellite connectivity, so you can send messages even if you don’t have a cellular network. Handy in emergencies. And good news: all Galaxy S25 models will get the same Snapdragon chips worldwide, unlike the S24, where some models still had Exynos processors.

Looking at the cameras, there are a lot of rumors about what Samsung is going to do with the Galaxy S25. The Ultra in particular is likely to get a major upgrade, with a new main camera and a 50 MP multi-angle lens, instead of the 12 MP lens we saw in the S24 Ultra.
The regular S25 and S25 Plus will probably undergo fewer changes, but there are rumors that they will get a new Sony sensor instead of the ISOCELL sensors used so far.
Better charging speeds?
In terms of battery and charging, the Samsung Galaxy S25 would likely keep the same 5,000 mAh battery as the S24, but the improved efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip should improve battery life.
Samsung should also upgrade the charging speed, as the S24 series still used the 25W charging speed, while competitors such as OnePlus already charge much faster. An upgrade to 45W or more would give the S25 series a big boost. It’s also about time for an upgrade to the wireless charging speed, which has been sitting at 15W since the Galaxy S9.

Samsung Galaxy S25 gets a Bixby upgrade
In terms of software, the Galaxy S25 will likely run on One UI 7, based on Android 15, and we will again see some cool Galaxy AI features. Samsung’s AI was already introduced with the Galaxy S24, but expectations for the S25 are high. Especially when it comes to smart photo editing, virtual assistants and live transcriptions.
There are even rumors that Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant, is getting a major upgrade, with AI improvements that will make it a lot smarter. The S25 also runs on Android 15, with a new design and some improved features.
In short, Samsung has a big job ahead of it. Expectations are high, and the company needs to improve both performance and cameras to really make the Galaxy S25 series stand out. But if the rumors are true, the S25 series is certainly not going to disappoint.
