Your iPhone battery works fine, but over time its quality declines. With these tips, you can boost its performance again.
The latest iPhones have larger batteries than previous models, but with all the new features and the latest iOS 18 software, they can still drain quickly. With daily use, iPhone batteries slowly lose capacity and need to be charged more often.
Power saving mode is always handy when you want to save a little extra energy, but there is so much more you can do on an iPhone. We’ll get you started with some handy tips.
How to make your iPhone battery last longer
These tips will help your battery last longer and maximize your iPhone’s use without the constant need for an electrical outlet. Here they come.
#1 Check which apps drain the battery
Some apps are real energy guzzlers, especially apps that use your location, stream videos or with intensive graphics. In Settings > Battery you can see which apps are the biggest culprits. Here it also advises on settings that can be adjusted to reduce battery usage.

#2 Remove battery-consuming apps
Apps like Instagram or TikTok draw quite a bit of battery. It might be a good idea to uninstall these apps to save energy.
But if you really can’t live without them, you also have the option to limit them. For example, you can hide them in a folder or set time limits through Settings > Screen time > App limits.
#3 Lower the screen brightness
With high brightness, your iPhone has to work harder to function. Not surprisingly, you want it low for longer battery life. You can adjust the brightness manually through the control panel.
But it’s also possible through Settings > Display and Brightness. Here you can also set the “Auto Lock” option to ensure that the screen does not stay on unnecessarily.

#4 Switch to 4G LTE when 5G signal is weak
If the 5G signal is poor, your iPhone consumes a lot of battery to stay connected. In that case, switch to 4G LTE. You do that through Settings > Mobile Network > Mobile data options > LTE.
#5 Limit location services on your iPhone
Location tracking consumes a lot of battery because your iPhone combines GPS, Bluetooth, cellular data and Wi-Fi to determine your location. If the signal is weak, it consumes even more energy.
By going to Settings > Privacy and Security > Location Services, location services can be turned off for apps that are not used often. Note that features such as “Find My” require location services to remain enabled.

#6 Consider a new battery
After a few years of heavy use, your iPhone’s battery often becomes less efficient. Battery status is easy to check through Settings > Battery > Battery Status. If the maximum capacity drops below 80 percent, a replacement is a smart move.
Bonus: use a power bank with your iPhone
A power bank is super handy for those who are often on the go. Especially if you know your battery won’t last an entire day, a compact model that easily fits in your bag or even your jacket pocket is a godsend. It gives you the freedom to charge your phone wherever you are.
