While all attention is now focused on Apple with its Apple Intelligence for iPhone, iPad and Mac, Google is also announcing some updates for its Pixel line. Here’s what you can expect soon.
Even earlier than Apple, Google set its sights full on AI. We have already been introduced to Gemini. With the announcement of Apple Intelligence, it already seems to have faded somewhat into the background. Still, Google Pixel users can expect some new features.
But what exactly are the new features for the Google Pixel? We take you through them.
These new features are coming to the Google Pixel 8a, 8 and 8 Pro
Gemini Nano is already available on the Google Pixel 8 Pro, but the feature is also coming to the regular 8 and the 8a. Gemini Nano allows some AI tasks to be performed on the device itself rather than in the cloud. This is safer and faster. To do this, however, you have to use the developer option, which you turn on through settings.
Are you done typing out all your meeting recordings? The transcribe function now works in even more detail. Unfortunately, this feature does not yet work in Dutch.

What does work in the Netherlands is bringing entertainment to a bigger screen. By connecting your Google Pixel 8a, 8 or 8 Pro to a television, monitor or projector via a USB-C cable, you can instantly enjoy your favorite shows.
Just as Apple has the Find My app, the Google Pixel has the Find My Device app. With this, it is possible to find your device if it supports the feature by GPS. Now it can find your Pixel even when it runs out of battery.
Even better photos with your Google Pixel
Always struggling to look good in a photo? Top Shot will now select the photo you look best in. This feature recognizes exactly when your eyes are open, your face is sharp and when you are smiling. Failed photos are a thing of the past.
In addition, it is now possible to choose which lens you use for your photos. This gives you even more control over the photos you take.

Google Pixel Watch gets even more secure
But your Google Pixel Watch is also getting a very fine update. Perhaps the most important is Car Crash Detection. Your smartwatch checks if everything is okay when you get involved in a car accident. If you need help and can’t answer, it automatically calls for emergency services.
Your Google Wallet also gets a big update on your Pixel Watch. You can now add your PayPal account to pay with it. That way you can really leave your physical wallet at home.
Soon you will be able to control your devices in your home through the Google Home app on your Pixel Watch. You easily add your favorites to your smartwatch so you can control them right away.
