How to charge iPhone 15 faster than Apple itself claims

We wish Apple had worked on a faster charging speed for its iPhone 15. But it wasn’t to be. Like previous models, they have a maximum charging speed of 20W. Or can you charge it faster after all?

There seems to be a way you can charge Apple’s brand new smartphone even faster than Apple claims. You’ll need a special charger for that, though.

Which charger works best for your iPhone 15?

YouTuber Brandon Butch conducted a test to investigate what kind of charger works best for an iPhone 15. He used the 5W, 12W, 20W and 30W chargers that Apple sells. The 5W is the standard iPhone charger and the 30W charger is something you normally use for a MacBook Air.

Butch used a device to measure the power for each charger while charging the iPhone 15. He also looked at how much heat was coming off the smartphone and chargers.

This charger comes out victorious in test

The YouTuber’s results are clear. To charge your iPhone 15 as fast as possible, use a 20W or 30W charger. The iPhone 15 takes two hours and 11 minutes to go from 0 to 100 percent with a 30W charger. The 20W variant needs an extra 10 minutes to get the job done.

The 12W charger needs more than four hours, and you have to wait almost six hours with a 5W model. On the other hand, the advantage of using the 5W or 12W charger is that the iPhone does not get as hot as with faster chargers.

In theory, using low-power chargers would be healthier for your battery. But the difference may not be noticeable and not worth it.

With all that in mind, it’s smart to use a 20W or 30W charger.
