Apple Intelligence is one of the best new features on the iPhone. Nevertheless, Apple is not bringing it to Europe, but there is a way.
Apple Intelligence is Apple’s own AI on the iPhone. Yet there is a big problem: Apple does not want to bring the feature to the European Union. The company fears it would violate the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA).
Still, you can just use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone, although you have to take a cumbersome step to do so. We’ll tell you how to do it.
Apple Intelligence on your iPhone
If you installed iOS 18 on your iPhone 15 Pro or just bought an iPhone 16, you’re missing out on a great feature: Apple Intelligence. The company showed what you can do with it during It’s Glowtime, leaving European users with envy.
Still, you can get Apple Intelligence in the Netherlands, although to do so you have to take a few steps that actually fool your iPhone. First, you need to create an American Apple account registered to an American address. Next, you also need a VPN that allows you to move your location to the United States.

Did you do that? Then you need to reboot your iPhone. Then install the iOS 18.1 public beta, since Apple Intelligence does not work through the regular iOS version. If all goes well, the AI should now work. By the way, don’t forget to set your iPhone to US English, since that’s the only language currently supported.
Apple has not yet taken action to prevent this, but now that this method is known, it may intervene later. But until it does, that means you can just use the AI, although, as you can see, it’s pretty cumbersome.
Apple Intelligence on your Mac
On your Mac, fortunately, it’s a little easier. Apple has decided not to block the feature on computers in Europe. This is probably because the market share of Macs is not that big in Europe, so it is less afraid of violating the DMA.
Apple Intelligence can be found in the open beta of macOS Sequoia 15.1. Once you’ve installed it, all you have to do is set the language to US English after which you can start using it. However, your Mac must have at least an M1 chip to use the feature.
