If you thought the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the OnePlus Open were expensive, we have bad news for you. It looks like the best Androids will only get pricier in 2025. All thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
Of course, for the best value for money, there must be something in return for such a high price. For example, new features or a big improvement over a previous model. But whether this is true for the rise of the future Samsung smartphone remains somewhat in the middle. We won’t find out until 2025.

Why will Samsung smartphones be more expensive in two years?
Samsung’s top phones run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. The faster a processor runs, the faster your smartphone will be.
Just like smartphones, chipsets sometimes need an update to make the device even faster and more efficient. Qualcomm is currently working on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, due out in 2025.
According to Qualcomm senior vice president Chris Patrick, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be a lot more expensive than previous processors. This is because the new chipsets will deliver “amazing performance.
Exactly how much more expensive these processors will be is not known. But any price increase will undoubtedly affect the price of a new smartphone from Samsung.
Which models will be affected?
That’s too bad, because many new Android devices will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Think of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the OnePlus 13 and the Xiaomi 15 line.
The exceptions to this are the Google Pixel 10 and iPhone 17 lines, which run on the companies’ own Tensor and A chips, respectively.
Fortunately, the time is not yet here. In the meantime, we have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which will provide many of the best phones with fast performance in 2024. Seemingly without the big price hike expected for the 8 Gen 4.
