When Apple introduced Dynamic Island on the iPhone, it was laughed at. Now Samsung too seems to be getting rid of it, but not as you think.
In 2022, Apple introduced the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the notch can also be found on regular models. A big advantage is that the notch can be used multifunctionally, something Samsung has also noticed.
Samsung is coming out with the same kind of notch, but not to hide anything. No, it wants to use it for AI.
Is the iPhone’s Dynamic Island coming to Samsung?
Apple has designed the Dynamic Island to enable Face ID on the iPhone. The technology is hidden underneath so you can securely open your smartphone. With the island, it managed to camouflage the feature well. On it came, for example, live updates from your Uber or soccer scores.
But there are many more possibilities, Samsung also sees. It has put a new feature in the One UI 7 beta, its own shell of Android 15, that looks suspiciously like it. Not to camouflage anything, but rather to add something.

This is the so-called Now Bar, which should be the first step toward a true AI companion. Samsung calls One UI 7 the start of a new era with the first AI-integrated control program. It should provide even more personalization.
Here’s what you can do with the Now Bar
The Now Bar, so similar to the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, should be your entry point to AI. It brings your daily actions and most-used apps to the lock screen. So it allows you to manage all your routines and entertainment.
This is what Samsung is doing with AI. As an example, the company itself gives a trip to Korea. As you prepare to travel, the smartphone gives a prompt to create a folder of essential apps for quick access. The Dynamic Island alternative gives you all the information. Just swipe the Now Bar for all kinds of tips.
For more information, however, we will have to wait. Most likely, Samsung is going to give us more information sometime in January. Then, in all likelihood, the Unpacked event will take place, where the Samsung Galaxy S25 will be presented.
