Samsung is probably not going to use Exynos chips in the Samsung Galaxy S25. It may opt for a new Snapdragon chip.
Traditionally, every January the flagship in the Samsung S series is released. So in 2025, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S25 (Ultra) to be launched. But possibly there will be a big tweak to the phone.
If Korean medium Hankyung is to be believed then the Samsung Galaxy S25 will exclusively get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip and say goodbye to their own Exynos chip for the S series. A unique move as Samsung often used both chips alternately.
What will Samsung do with Exynos?
Samsung will not say goodbye to the Exynos chips completely. Hankyung also knows to report that the Exynos chips may end up in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Fold7. Again, this would be unique, as the Z series usually contain chips from Qualcomm. Hopefully this switch will not have a negative effect on battery life. Fortunately, we have some tips for you then.
It could potentially still be detrimental to consumers if there are only Snapdragon chips in the Samsung Galaxy S25. According to insiders, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would be more expensive to procure than its predecessor. In turn, this price increase could potentially affect the price of the Samsung Galaxy S25 (Ultra).

OnePlus may get the scoop
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip is likely to be released this October at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. It is rumored in the corridors that not Samsung, but OnePlus will go through with the scoop.
The OnePlus 12 was released in December last year. But possibly the release of its successor OnePlus 13 will be pushed forward. There is talk of a release in late October or early November.
Since the OnePlus 12 was released with a the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it is likely that the OnePlus 13 will come with Qualcomm’s latest chip. OnePlus has not officially released anything yet.
Of course, there are always lots of rumors coming out, so perhaps we should take Samsung and OnePlus’ reporting with a bit of a grain of salt. But where there is smoke, there is fire I always say.
