Samsung is going to make a budget version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. We won’t have to wait long for it, as it may be in stores sooner than you might expect.
In recent years, clamshell phones have been making a comeback on the streets. Whereas the clamshell was not too expensive about 20 years ago, they have now become pricey smartphones. Samsung may be about to do something about that, coming out with a budget variant of the Galaxy Z Flip6. Possibly the device will be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE.
Samsung has been rumored to be coming out with an affordable Z-series smartphone for quite some time. It was previously thought to be a folding phone, but the prototype is said to have failed internal testing. This would be one of the reasons that a flip and not a fold is now being looked at.
When is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE expected to arrive?
There are often two certainties when it comes to smartphone launches at Samsung. In January, the Korean company often releases the S-series flagship and in July the Z-series flagships. But if the same rumor is to be believed, this could yet change.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE is supposed to come out at the same time as the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7. However, the same rumor shows that the budget flip phone is expected in April. So this would mean that Samsung is deviating from the “tradition” of launching the Z series in July.

Little leaked yet
Exactly what the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE will be is not yet clear. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 currently costs 1139 euros on Samsung’s website. Usually we see FE models of other series being priced around 700 euros to 800 euros at launch. Probably this will also be the case for the Samsung Galaxy FE.
Pretty little is known yet about the specifications of the possibly Z Flip FE. So we also cannot determine if the price compares to the specifications. And whether, for a few hundred euros extra, you wouldn’t be better off buying the flagship. Time will tell.
