The do’s and don’ts for cleaning your iPhone

If you have an iPhone, one thing is certain: your phone gets dirty. Therefore, it is advisable to clean it regularly. But what to do, and what not to do? We tell you.

Your iPhone is probably the thing you touch the most every day. As a result, the device is also a hotbed of bacteria. So it pays to clean it regularly. But how do you do that, and what is better to leave out?

This is how to clean your iPhone

Let’s start with how best to clean your iPhone. Here come all the steps you need to take. First, of course, it makes sense to turn off your phone. Also remove all accessories that are in and around the phone. Done? Then now we can really get down to business!

Wipe your iPhone with a clean microfiber cloth and, if necessary, slightly moisten it with water.
Then, to disinfect your iPhone, use a (pocket) cloth with alcohol.
Use a toothpick or a satay stick to clean hard-to-reach areas. Just be careful not to poke through grilles, microphones and other important parts with that stick.

Once you have followed these steps, your iPhone is once again completely clean and ready to use. Of course, it will get dirty again in no time, so it is useful to repeat these steps regularly.

Other ways to clean your iPhone

There is also another way to clean your iPhone. There are special UV Sterilizer for sale. These kill over 99 percent of bacteria by shining a high dose of UV light on the phone for five to 10 minutes.

Of course, you can also choose to use a screen protector. This way you keep your iPhone’s screen clean. However, you should of course clean the protector itself regularly.

Here’s what you especially shouldn’t do

Well, you now know what you should do, but there are also some things you’re better off not doing. It goes without saying, of course, that you take out all the cables. It is also important not to use an air pressure cleaner or compressed air.

The last tip, but certainly not the most important, is that you absolutely should not use any cleaning agent other than alcohol. So leave the bleach and hydrogen peroxide in the cupboard and don’t use them. These agents can seriously damage the iPhone.
