The OnePlus Open 2 gets this unique camera feature

It probably won’t be long before we can expect the new OnePlus Open 2. The folding phone will get a camera feature not found on top models of the well-known brands.

In late 2023, OnePlus launched the first Open smartphone. At the time, that top model cost 1799 euros, which is a hefty chunk of money compared to a phone you can’t fold. Especially notable about the device was the huge camera on the back, consisting of three lenses.

Meanwhile, OnePlus is working on the Open 2, which should replace the first folding phone. Rumors suggest that we can expect that device this year. It is unclear when exactly that will be, but it appears to be in the second half of the year. New, leaked information indicates that the device will have a camera feature that we haven’t seen often.

OnePlus Open 2 can take close-ups from a distance

In fact, the phone’s telephoto lens will have a macro mode that allows you to take close-ups of objects. We know such a macro mode from other devices, such as the most recent iPhones. But unlike with those phones, where the normal camera has a macro mode, the feature with the new OnePlus Open 2 offers a big advantage.

In fact, according to TechRadar, there’s no need to hold your phone close to an object to get a close-up, because the telephoto lens does the work. This ensures that even from greater distances, you can capture things very precisely up close in images.

Phone likely to become very thin

According to earlier rumors, the new OnePlus Open 2 will get a battery with a capacity of 5,900 mAh. Furthermore, the device is likely to get a chip can Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Elite to be exact. Moreover, the device is probably going to be the thinnest foldable phone we have seen on the market so far.

In China, the device is likely to be released first as the Oppo Find N5. Oppo recently shared a photo (seen above) showing that the foldable phone is thinner than Apple’s iPad Pro with M4 chip. If so, we are probably going to see a very thin phone indeed. Other than that, it’s mostly a case of wait and see.
