Samsung gave a small sneak peak of the new Galaxy S25 Edge during Galaxy Unpacked in January. The release date now seems to have leaked and it’s coming sooner than you think
Smartphones come in all shapes and sizes these days. Big, small, folded, closed, but there seems to be a new trend coming now. A thinner model, than the base model. And that’s exactly what the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is in a nutshell.
This year during Galaxy Unpacked in San Jose, the Galaxy S25 series saw the light of day, but just at the end of the presentation, Samsung had another little surprise. A thinner variant of the Samsung Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge. The slim shape was also the only thing Samsung brought out at the time. But today the rumor is coming out that the Edge is expected to arrive fairly soon.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: We won’t have to wait long
According to the latest rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will be presented on April 16 in South Korea during an online Galaxy Unpacked presentation. It is expected to hit stores a month after that. The Edge would be launched in three different colors. Namely black, white and light blue.
Meanwhile, the rumor stream is picking up nicely. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is said to get a 6.6-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hertz. This puts the size right in between the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the S25 Plus. The Edge is also expected to get a 7-core variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

It would make pretty good sense for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to be released in May. That way it falls right between the launch of the S25 series and the expected Z Flip7 and Fold7. Although it remains to be seen whether the S25 Edge will go on sale right away in the Netherlands.
Only 40 thousand units would be produced initially, this could mean that the thin smartphone will initially only be launched in a few countries. We saw this happen before with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Ring. It was launched in January last year and only came to the Netherlands in September.
What else do we know?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may be thinner than the regular S25, but the battery should not suffer as a result. In fact, according to rumors, the S25 Edge will get the same battery as in the base model of S25 series.
Personally, I think this is a handsome achievement, as the smartphone is slightly thinner than its counterpart at 6.4 millimeters. One possible way to get the S25 Edge so thin is to use a tandem OLED screen. This eliminates the need for a backlight. We also see such a technique on the iPad Pro.

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will be more expensive than the Galaxy S25 Plus, but it would be cheaper again than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. So the price will be somewhere between 1149 euros and 1449 euros
Samsung has not officially confirmed anything yet, so much is still speculation. But where there is smoke, there is fire so that something is about to happen around the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge cannot be ruled out. Fortunately, April 16 is not too long away.
