If you were one of the first to buy a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 or a Z Flip 3 (or 2), you will soon receive an update to the operating system with many new features that can also be found on the fourth-generation Fold and Flips.
Samsung is tinkering around a lot at the moment. Not only is it releasing updates to One UI 4.1.1, the operating system of modern smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, but the Korean manufacturer’s smartwatches are also getting an update that includes new watch faces.
For the new and old Samsung Z Fold and Flip
Samsung’s One UI 4.1.1. is based on Android 12L and was first seen on the newer Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. But now, therefore, owners of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will also get the opportunity to update. Even the second generation phones will get a substantial update. It is not yet known when this will happen.

Multitasking and selfies
The update gives users of an older Samsung Galaxy Z Fold or Z Flip access to modern features. For example, the “PC-like” taskbar is now available, which allows you to easily view two different apps at once. Two finger operation is also available. This makes multitasking easy, because you can easily switch to a full screen.

An additional set of features that only the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip (and above) have is to access settings, calls, replies or text messages from the cover screen. And for the selfie-makers among us, this means you can now use the rear camera.

Besides the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, let’s not forget about watches: One UI Watch 4.5 is also being rolled out to older Samsung watches. It is already available on the Galaxy Watch 5, but is now coming to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic as well. For this, one gets four new watch faces as well as a new QWERTY keyboard.
A release date for Watch 4.5 has not yet been announced. And owners of the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch 2: don’t worry. An update is coming for you too with a few features of Watch 4.5. These include two number plates, snore analysis, a blood pressure monitor and ECG support in the Samsung Health Monitor app.
So a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold or Z Flip, or a Galaxy an sich is a good choice in terms of phone anyway, especially with these impressive features.
