One of the most notable innovations to the iPhone 16 is the Camera Control button. Two Android device makers are already looking to take over that feature.
One of the biggest surprises during the unveiling of the iPhone 16 was the introduction of a new button: the Camera Control button. As the name implies, this button offers many more options for taking pictures faster and easier.
And when Apple comes up with a new idea, you can count on other brands to quickly adopt it. We saw this before with the Dynamic Island, which some brands tried to integrate into their own smartphones. But which brands will adopt the iPhone 16’s Camera Control button?
These Android brands are mimicking the iPhone 16
One of the first brands to announce the introduction of a Camera Control button on their next device after the unveiling of the iPhone 16 was Nubia. Nubia’s CEO Ni Fei even claimed on Chinese platform Weibo that the Nubia Z70 Ultra will have an even more realistic camera button.
Like the iPhone 16, this button would have a two-step mechanism that allows you to focus and then take the picture. Whether the button will be as advanced as Apple’s is not yet clear. Nubia promises that the new Android smartphone will hit the market soon.

However, Nubia is not the only brand working on a dedicated camera button for their Android smartphone. Oppo also announced it is working on a similar feature. This button, called the Quick button, will debut on the Oppo Find X8. However, it is still unclear if this will be a physical shutter button, or if the button will offer more features, like the iPhone 16’s Camera Control button.
Apple is certainly not the first
Although Apple is getting a lot of praise for its Camera Control button, it is not the first brand to introduce a shutter button on a smartphone. Sony already offers a device with a two-stage shutter button with the Xperia 1 VI, which allows you to focus and then take a picture.
What sets Apple’s Camera Control button apart, however, is its advanced technology. Because the button also responds to touch, it offers more options for taking photos. As is often the case, Apple has taken an existing concept, improved it further, and in doing so, set a new standard in the industry.
