The iPhone 16 has a problem where it can randomly reboot itself. Fortunately, this problem seems to be resolved soon.
The iPhone 16 is Apple’s newest smartphone, and as with much new technology, bugs can sometimes occur. One of the most notable problems is that the iPhone 16 seems to regularly reboot itself for no reason.
Fortunately, that problem appears to be fixed soon with a new update. What exactly is going on?
The iPhone 16’s glaring problem
While most people do not experience any problems with the iPhone 16, a bug has been present since launch that causes the smartphone to reboot at random times for no apparent reason. This problem seems to occur mainly when users are using system apps, which are among the most frequently used apps on the smartphone. In addition, users who enable the StandBy feature – where the iPhone is placed horizontally to act as a clock or calendar – also suffer from this bug.
It is not yet entirely clear what exactly causes the problem, but Apple has been taking a while to fix it on iPhone 16. For example, the company previously released iOS 18.0.1 to address the initial bugs, but this update did not yet include a fix for the random restart of the iPhone.

However, the fix for the iPhone 16 should be in the next update, iOS 18.1. This will be another challenge, as this fix was not present in the beta version of the update. Nevertheless, Apple informed MacRumors that the bug will be fixed in the latest update.
Even more issues to be fixed by iOS 18.1
The update will not only fix the restart problem, but also eliminate some other bugs. For example, the iPhone 16 would no longer overheat when playing a 4K video in the Photos app. In addition, issues with using the iPhone as a car key and with the Podcasts app will be addressed.
However, the biggest new feature that iOS 18.1 brings, Apple Intelligence, we will have to miss out in Europe. Because of the European Digital Markets Act, Apple has decided not to introduce this AI feature for now, for fear of fines.
