Android and iOS: these are the best smartphones of May 2022

Buying a new smartphone is not an easy task. At least, actually buying one is not that difficult. The difficulty is mostly in picking out which Android or iOS device you want.

To get you started, we at WANT list the best smartphones for you every month. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a smartphone with Android or with iOS: these are the five best of this month.

Android and iOS: the 5 best smartphones of May 2022

Picking out “the best smartphones” is quite difficult. If only because the market is full of different options. In addition, every consumer is also different. Where you want to get the most out of the camera system, the other just wants a good smartphone for not too much money. Therefore, we look not only at quality, but also certainly at popularity. We look at the absolute best, the best deals and your best option from a particular series.

So keep in mind that the Android and iOS smartphones below are not in order. With all five options, you’ll be incredibly comfortable in May 2022.

#1 Android topper: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The absolute best in Android has been available on the market for a while now. With a recommended retail price of €1249, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is certainly not a cheap choice, but it might be your best investment. The smartphone knows how to do practically everything right and, not unimportantly, ensures that you are baked for the next four or five years. The device has an impressive camera system, is equipped with an S Pen, has without a doubt the best display on the market and charges wonderfully fast.

The downside? The battery lasts a little less than its predecessor and the Android device has less working memory. Is that a bad thing? You’ll find out in the review below!

#2 iOS topper: iPhone 13

Is the iPhone 13 the very best iOS device you can buy right now? If you look at the hard specifications and performance not. Nevertheless, this model is without a doubt the most interesting for the general consumer. Indeed, the smartphone manages to perform as well as the Pro models in many areas, but it doesn’t have a 120Hz screen or a telephoto lens. Is that a bad thing? That’s a question you’ll have to answer for yourself.

The iPhone 13, with a suggested retail price of €909, is in fact a bit more affordable than the Pro. So really ask yourself whether you really need the Pro features or whether you’re fine with this masterpiece of an iOS smartphone. You can read more about it in the review below!

#3 OnePlus 10 Pro

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the latest flagship device from OnePlus. The smartphone previously appeared only in China, but has now also found its way to Europe. For this, OnePlus has made a special version that is very much to the editor’s liking. The device is beautifully designed, has a good screen, carries a fine camera system and is equipped with a monster of a battery. One that you can charge with an output of 80 watts.

Chances are the software will take some getting used to and if you’re coming from another flagship, the camera system might be a step down. Wondering what we mean by this? Check it out via the review below:

#4 iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 13 Pro (Max): not the very best deal as far as I’m concerned, perhaps your best option for an iOS smartphone. At least, if the high-end Pro features appeal to you. The image runs smoother, unlike the regular model, and the camera system has more to offer you. The phone feels a bit more premium and carries a pleasant battery with it.

Comparing the iOS smartphone to that of an Android device, you feel that certain parts do lag behind. Think of the slow charging at 20W and a large notch on the front of the screen. Can you easily pierce through that? Then the review below might be worth reading.

#5 Samsung Galaxy A53

This is where the bit about popularity comes in. The Samsung Galaxy A series has managed to amaze friend and foe for years. The quality of the smartphones, which you can get on the cheap, is impressive. The chance that the Samsung Galaxy A53 will become one of the most popular smartphones of the year is therefore high. For €350 you get a device with a 120Hz screen, an excellent battery life and long-term support. Ideal, in other words.

The downside is that the build quality and the quality of the camera system are significantly lower than the other iOS and Android smartphones in this list. Then again, the price is also significantly lower, after all. We’ll get to work on this particular model soon, but take it from us that you should keep a close eye on this guy.

More Android or iOS?

After reading this list, haven’t you found your ideal Android smartphone or would you rather stick with iOS? No problem, at WANT we keep you updated daily.
