OPPO, like most consumers, understands something very different by affordable. According to rumors, the company is working on a serious competitor and may just make the foldable smartphone a whole lot more affordable.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 was a success. Don’t get me wrong, as far as I’m concerned it is among one of the most innovative smartphones of the past year. Not so much in the way in which it was designed and worked (after all, we’ve seen it for a few years now), but purely because of the price difference from the previous edition. At the time of writing, it’s even possible to snap up the device for a reduced price of €969. But that is not to say that it has become accessible. Just under €1000 is still a lot of money for a phone, even if the market sometimes says otherwise.
OPPO seems to want to change that. Not in the fact that €1000 is a lot of money for most, but in the accessibility of the foldable smartphone. How cheap this smartphone is going to be is not known, but sources close to the company report that it is definitely coming. According to those sources, the folding phone is entirely focused on price quality and will have to compete with flagships. Sounds a bit like OPPO is pulling the old OnePlus way out from under the dust. Something we can be nothing but excited about.
