Action button of iPhone 15 Pro can perform more tasks this way

The iPhone 15 Pro’s action button is perhaps the most noticeable change from previous models. Also, did you know that you can give the button more than one function?

When installing the iPhone 15 Pro, you are asked what you want to do with the action button. You can choose from one of seven preset functions, or you can assign a custom function yourself, using the Commands app.

Giving the iPhone 15 Pro’s action button multiple functions

All functions have one thing in common: You can only set one function at a time on your iPhone 15 Pro. If you press briefly, you see what the function entails, and if you hold down the action button longer, the set command is executed. Still, it is possible to give the action button multiple functions at the same time.

Why Apple limited the action button to one function is still a big mystery. Yet it is possible to get around this and give the button multiple functions.

To do this, you need to use the Commands app on your iPhone 15 Pro, the same app you use to set a function for the action button. To add multiple functions, click the + symbol in Commands. Then type Menu in the search bar and look for the Choose from menu option that now appears. This creates an empty menu where you can add your own labels.

For example, name this menu “Action Button” and add the functions you want in the menu. It is most convenient to change the names One and Two to the desired functions, such as Silent and Camera. You can also add a third function on your iPhone 15 Pro, such as Notes.

This is how you set different functions

Have you listed the desired functions for the iPhone 15 Pro’s action button? Then it’s now time to add shortcuts to the relevant functions, using the search bar at the bottom of the screen. After you add them, they will appear at the bottom of the list. Now drag them under the name of the previously created functions. When you’re done, press Done.

The functions are now set up. The only thing left is to customize the action button itself. To do this, go to Settings > Action Button. Then swipe to the Assignment and press New Assignment at the bottom. Press Choose Menu. Now you can select all three functions when you press the button.
